Bachelor of International Business Management with Honours (Minor Entrepreneurship)

The Bachelor of International Business Management (Hons) programme was established from the root of business and management disciplines. From the foundation of business and management, BIBM expanded their disciplines to more comprehensive business skills and exposures that go beyond local managerial perspectives. The programme prepares graduates with a sound knowledge in international business to enable them to secure managerial positions in private and public organizations particularly the multinational corporations, non-governmental organizations (NGO’s), small and medium enterprises (SME) and other business entities and business service providers.

The saying goes that the world is getting smaller. Developments in communication, IT, marketing; flash before our eyes at an unprecedented pace. The United States, Europe, China or India are just a mouse click away, that is nowadays our reality. Employees with an internationally oriented mindset are eagerly sought after by employers: they have learned to be flexible, they can easily deal with changes, and they have cross cultural competences and some often possess excellent language skills.

It is very important to gain an appreciation of the various social, cultural, economic and legal complexities which face managers working within the highly competitive international environment, and develop an understanding of the strategies of multi-national corporations. We believe today’s business student must see the organisation as more than simply a collection of functional parts. The integration of markets urges organisations to work beyond their traditional regional boundaries and compete in diverse global environments. As such these organisations need leaders and managers who can work across multicultural barriers and develop effective international strategies.

Management and entrepreneurship form the cornerstones of our approach to develop students’ knowledge of international contexts with the aim that they may launch, run, and work in any organization that is global in scope and they are able to see national borders as bridges and not barriers. Management is concerned with competition and competitive advantage, while entrepreneurship is concerned with creating new opportunities where none previously existed. These areas are important to our students because more and more organisations conduct at least some of their business across borders. If you are a budding entrepreneur then international business increases your entrepreneurial playground.

The aim of this module is to let students relate the knowledge they studied in the classroom with the real aspect of job environment. Additionally, it potentially gives rise to opportunities for the students to build some ideas about the expectation, the culture, norms and skills that they have to prepare before they embark their journey into the job market.
